What safety features are available?
By some estimates, as many as 45% of all serious accidents in the home occur in the bathroom – and most happen very quickly when you least expect it. For this reason adding safety options in the bathroom is a no brainer. However we have found that lots of people will try to avoid adding these safety features because they either don’t think they need them “yet” or don’t like the traditional looks of these items as they can give a “hospital feel”. This is why the Jacuzzi Hydrotherapy Shower was designed to have an aesthetic appeal while still giving the user many features that will help them to feel secure while bathing. It all starts with a low 4″ threshold to step in and a slip resistant acrylic shower pan (synthetic slip resistant mat optional). Then comes a beautiful faux teak seat that will never mold or mildew. This seat is repositionable and hangs on any of the 3 grab bars which are built into the wall system. It can be removed when not in use or simply folds up so it does not take up any room unless you are using it. The large seat is comfortable to sit on and is designed to hold more than 450 pounds so you will feel extremely secure. While seated, you can put your foot on the convenient foot pedestal that is built into the back wall – perfect for shaving legs or cleaning feet.
What else is in the Hydrotherapy Shower?
Jacuzzi designed this shower to be loaded with many spa like accessories. Since they wanted a therapeutic experience the main showerhead chosen was a 3 function GROHE DreamSpray®. Additionally, there is a Jacuzzi handheld shower wand with convenient ergonomic strap and simple controls. The shower wand can be mounted on the main plumbing wall or be repositioned on the side wall in conjunction with a multi-position slide bar that doubles as a grab bar. Both shower heads are designed to be easily maintained, simply rub your fingers over the face to reduce lime scale build up. Back when Jacuzzi was originally talking to focus groups to find out what people wanted in their shower, guess what the number one request was? Storage. Apparently nobody has enough storage in their shower – so Jacuzzi decided to fix that problem and built in 6 recessed shelves. They are large enough to hold all the bathing supplies you could want but tuck away nicely so you don’t constantly bump into them.
Who can use this Shower?
Frankly anyone can use the Hydrotherapy Shower as it is a great alternative to any bathtub or the traditional one piece or tiled shower. How does it work?
The Jacuzzi Hydrotherapy Shower utilizes an anti- scald upper valve that allows you to control the temperature. There is also a manual override (red button) that allows you to make the shower hotter than standard 96° max. The lower valve is designed to turn on the shower with small handle which is the pressure control. This same valve operates 4 separate zones that can be controlled through the long handle. This is an important design and is the key reason this shower delivers true hydrotherapy. One of the biggest complaints from people trying to achieve hydrotherapy through an aftermarket shower wand is that they don’t really deliver any therapy. Knowing this, Jacuzzi designed the Hydrotherapy Shower to maximize the Federal rule of 2.5 gallons per minute at each zone. So instead of having a shower that looks nice but doesn’t really work – the Hydrotherapy Shower is delivering a serious amount of water to the area you want targeted. So you can conveniently use the main showerhead, shower wand, 2 upper hydro jets or 2 lower hydro jets depending on the area of your body you want to focus on.
